Our AI model was trained on over 10,000 real EUIPO opposition decisions. It analyzes your brand name across three dimensions — and combines the results into a single comparison score.
Sounds similar? Looks similar?
Brands are often compared by name. Our AI checks phonetic, visual, and structural similarity simultaneously — catching names like 'Nike' vs. 'Nyke' or 'rn' vs. 'm' that a simple text search would miss.
Multiple algorithms work in parallel, optimized for different languages — so even international similarities are reliably detected.
Data Sources
Currently, Markencheck.ai searches the EUIPO register (European Union Intellectual Property Office) with around 3 million EU trademarks (about 1.7 million of them registered).
We update our data regularly so you always check against the latest records. Additional registers (DPMA, USPTO, WIPO) are planned.
Limits of our technology
Our AI is a powerful preliminary research tool — but not a substitute for professional trademark research.
What our AI can do: Quickly and systematically find similar brand names, highlight similarities, and give you a quick overview.
What our AI cannot do: Make legally binding statements, guarantee finding all possible similarities, or replace the legal assessment of a trademark attorney.
Our advice: Use Markencheck.ai as a first step. If our analysis finds similarities, you'll know early when professional advice is worthwhile.
We use generative AI only as a support tool — for example, for plain-language summaries or input assistance. The similarity analysis itself is based on deterministic algorithms and a proprietary ML model. This ensures your results are reproducible and transparent.
